In the Field near Resca, Georgia, 1863 Received this day, the 13th of April at Head-Quarters the following orders, From Lightening Brigade, viz:

General Orders } Lightning Brigade Headquarters, No. 1 North of the Stones River, near Murfreesboro, Tennessee April 12, 1863
Pursuant to orders from Division, Colonel Dwight Dovel will hereby assume command of the Lightning Brigade, First Federal Division, and thus organizes the brigade into two Battalions. In pursuant to this organization, Col. Ken Sumner will assume the duties of Deputy Commander and 2nd Battalion Commander, and Lt. Col. Scott Wortham will hereby command the 1st Battalion. The Commander respectfully request that all personnel and men obey these worthy officers accordingly.
The commanding officer in consultation with his Battalion Commanders hereby appoints the following Brigade and corresponding Battalion staff for the Lightning Brigade. Each officer is expected to carryout his duties with utmost vigor, and most thoroughly. The Commander expects each unit commander in this Brigade to obey without hesitation and question.
Each AAG is requested to forwarded this order to the appropriate unit commanders within the Brigade forthwith.
